Housekeys Action Network on Instagram: "As the City publicly celebrates Hispanic Heritage month & City leaders discuss the importance of honoring contemporary Latinx roots, a Latina family with two 2yo and a 6yo sits in the office of a city council person, waiting to speak to them about how they’ve been on the streets, starving & sleeping in parks, for nearly 2 months. They’ve reached out to all the “appropriate channels”, been placed on a 3-month long waitlist, even spoke to the Director of Shelters at the Homeless Advisory Meeting, only to be told by a City worker this morning that there are no funds to put them in immediate emergency shelter but the City WILL pay to ship them out of the state & back to the border. WHAT MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING TO OUR HISPANIC FAMILIES HERE NOW WHEN WE’D RATHER SHIP THEM AWAY THEN HELP THEM STAY??? WHEN BABIES ON THE STREETS ISN’T OUR MORAL LINE???
